How to install laptop RAM

Installing laptop RAM is typically an easy process.  It is usually unscrewing 2 screws on the bottom of your laptop and voila, stick in your RAM.  You’ll need to install your RAM into the slots at a 45 degree angle and ensure it slides right in.  Any scratching or shoving in can cause the RAM to stop working.

Other times, installing RAM is much more difficult to install and entails removing the keyboard to install the modules.  If this is the case, you’ll need to first find out from your manufacturer or manual how to remove the keyboard, and then install the RAM.  Remember to first check out what kind of RAM you need (i.e. DDR, PC2700, etc), to ensure your upgraded RAM is compatible.  Also, make sure you do not go over the capacity your computer can accept.

Overall, increasing the RAM is the best way to increase the speed of your computer in a cost-effective manner.  If you don’t feel comfortable installing RAM yourself, you should enlist a hardware technician for this job.
