My computer doesn’t recognize my iPod – iPod repair tip

Sometimes, iPods decide to play peak-a-boo.  Other times, they decide to just hide on you.  If your iPod decides to take a siesta on you and doesn’t show up in iTunes, don’t worry – follow the below iPod repair steps:

  1. Update your iPod firmware.
  2. Uninstall iTunes and reinstall as well as other iPod-related software.
  3. Update to Windows XP SP3 or Vista SP1 if you haven’t already.
  4. Remove any new software that caused the iPod to stop being recognized.

If you have a Mac, chances are your iPod will always be recognized since iTunes is primarily designed for the Apple operating system.  If the above computer repair steps don’t work, you’ll need to visit a computer repair shop.
