Computer repair tune-up: a New York Computer Help tip

  1. Make sure your anti-virus and anti-spyware software are up to date.  If not, install this free security software.
  2. Replace your surge protector if older than 1 year or you already experienced a surge or blackout.
  3. Install the latest Windows updates.
  4. Go to add/remove programs and remove and any unnecessary programs and games.
  5. Defrag your computer.  Click on Start and perform a search for “Disk Defragmenter” to pull up this program.
