It is annoying going to the same websites on your phone as you do from your computer. Now, Firefox is creating the Awesome Bar iPhone App to take care of this nuisance. I watch our IT tech team struggling to type a long website address on their iPhones all the time. Let’s face it – the iPhone is not the easiest to type on. Who really wants to touch glass when typing? This iPhone App should help them out and all you iPhone folks.
Here’s what the Awesome Bar iPhone app will do:
- Stores the same bookmarks (favorite websites) from your computer on your iPhone
- Remembers the history of sites you’ve been to from your computer
- Keeps tabs memorized from your computer so you can just go right to them after working on your computer
The idea of this iPhone app is to allow you to keep working on your iPhone if you run out of the house or office. This is a great idea. Here’s an example: Our IT techs are always asked to jump everything while working on their office computers to go to onsite technical support appointments. I can’t tell you how many times I see zillions of Firefox Tabs and sites open on their computers. Now, they won’t worry about where they left off. They’ll be able to see the same out-of-control Tabs and bookmarks while on the way to their appointments with their iPhones.
Sorry, blackberry users – you and I are still left in the dust with Firefox transparency. Let me know if you find any Blackberry apps like this. Oh, and another plus for the Awesome Bar iPhone app is that it will be free! Mozilla hasn’t provided a launch date yet so be on the look-out for this great app!
