Instagram is like Twitter on steroids. Okay, maybe not steroids, but it’s Twitter for photos essentially. With Instagram, you can take a photo with your iPhone and then immediately share it with your friends. You may be thinking, “What’s the difference between this an Flickr?” Well, I was wondering too so I checked it out.
Flickr is really just a website to store your photos. The whole point of Instagram is to take the blurryness out of iPhone pictures. Yes, the iPhone takes great pictures, but it is still not as clear as regular cameras. So, Instagram adds clarity and sharpens up mobile pictures. It goes a step above to add layers, borders, and designed filters to jazz up pics, making them look like they came from a professional photographers repetoire. The confusing part for me was, “Where do you store them?”
After selecting which photos you want to share, you then may send them to Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Foursquare, Posterous, Foursquare, and Picasa, simultaneously or selectively. If you’re not familiar with Posterous, it’s a cool, new postcard site where your picture may be emailed which will then go out in the form of a postcard. Back to Instagram. This program meets two objectives: making iPhone pictures better in quality and also providing a simple solution to transfer iPhone photos to your favorite social sites. The technology support process is very clear and iPhone repair / computer experts are not needed here.
