Computer turns off at startup – How to fix startup computer issue?

Your computer turns on.  Hooray!  Your computer turns of 5-10 seconds later.  Boo! Such extreme emotions can cause a conniption and we don’t want that!  If your computer turns on, and then so nicely turns off, there are computer repair steps you can follow to resolve this computer startup issue.

1. Disconnect peripherals. Disconnect any printers, external hard drives, or any other peripheral devices.  This includes removing the cables that attach to your computer from these devices.
2. Bad Outlet? Check to see where your computer to powered into.  Plug your power cable or AC Adapter into another surge protector or wall outlet.
3. Reseat RAM. Open up your computer and remove and reinsert the RAM.  Maybe it was loose.  If that doesn’t fix it, see how your computer runs with one or the other RAM running alone.
4. Re-secure all internal cabling. If you have a desktop, open it up to ensure everything is secure, including cables, fan, heat sink, CPU, hard drive, and connectors.  At this time, you’ll probably need to go to a laptop repair technician if your notebook is still not powering on fully.
5. Bad Power Supply? Replace your desktop’s power supply since a failing power source could cause start-up problems.
6. Viruses? In rare cases, servere computer virus infections may cause the the computer to turn off immediately.  So, go into safe mode by tapping F8 upon boot up and run a virus scan.
7. Seek professional help! If all else fails, go to an NYC computer repair shop to repair your computer.
