The wait it now over. You can sign up for Google+. Just open up a web page to Google and you’ll see a long outstretched arrow pointing to where to click to sign up. As long as you can find 10 friends and celebrities, you’ll get the Google+ stream of content. Essentially, you’ll see what your buddies are saying every day. This is very much like Facebook, but definitely cleaner and easier to read.
The clear cool factor for Google+ is its Hangouts feature where up to nine people can video chat. iPhone support will be coming soon as you’ll already be able to join the web conference with your Android. That means if you’re using Wi-Fi, you can make free international video calls from your phone.
Another nice feature is that you can search Google results within Google+. This is a sneaky way to keep you inside the Google computer network! But, it’s still convenient at the same time by not having to open up another web page.
Yes, there is that other little social networking giant called Facebook. Don’t feel bad for them. They’re still far ahead with over 750 million users. Google+ is leaning towards 25 million. I wish they would both just make nice and join forces. It will be a bit daunting to now add another social networking site to the list and wonder if my contacts are on Google+ or Facebook. Nonetheless, Facebook needs a good dose of competition instead of relying on its wealth of users to lead the way. There hasn’t been a revolutionary computer service feature with Facebook in a while so hopefully this will get it creative juices flowing again.
