How to setup Verizon email on Outlook 2010 – Verizon Outlook 2010 setup

Setting up your Verizon emails is not difficult.  You don’t have to be an Outlook specialist to do it. Or if you do, try your hand at Microsoft Azure with an AZ104 Practice test.
Just follow the below steps and that’s it.

1. In Outlook 2010, under File tab, click Add Account in Account Information section.
2. Enter your full name in Your Name field; Verizon email in Email Address field; and Verizon password in Password and Retype Password fields.
3. Then, click Manually configure server settings or additional server types and Next.
4. For Internet Email Settings, Your Name Field should be written how you want people to see your name.
5. Email Address Field – type your full Verizon email; select POP3 for Account Type.
6. Incoming mail server is incoming.verizon.net and Outgoing mail server (SMTP) is outgoing.verizon.net
7. User Name field is your Verizon online user name and type in your Verizon online password for the password.
8. Click More Settings->Outgoing Servers tab and click My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.
9. Click Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
10. Click Advanced tab and input 995 for Incoming Server (POP3) and input 465 for Outgoing Server (SMTP).
11. Make sure to Leave a copy of messages on the server to access email from other computers, but Remove from server after 7 days or so to not exceed your email quota.
12. Click OK, Next, and Finish.

12 steps.  That’s not so bad for a one-time email setup for your computer.  Step #7 is the toughest since this requires you to remember your Verizon online user name and password you received when you first set up Verizon DSL typically.  This is the account that looks something like vze304813 and has some unrecognizable password to go with it.  You can always call Verizon at 800-VERIZON if you didn’t keep this info which might have been jotted down on a Verizon welcome sheet somewhere.

If using other computers to access your email, Step #11 shows you how to leave emails on the server to be accessible.  If you neglect this step, then your emails will be downloaded to one computer, and won’t be accessible from other computers.
