You’ve accumulated tons of pics, videos, and files on your iPad. So, how do you ensure it is accessible from your PC or Mac? There are a number of ways available out there to share files between your iPad and computer. But, not all of them are user-friendly, requiring a computer tech to set up the iPad configuration for you.
I will run through a few ways to share files between the iPad and computer since they all have different functionalities and may be what you’re looking for. Here you go:
- Need to access iPad files from your PC or Mac? – At $9, Air Sharing is a great app to create a drive letter on your computer where you can drag and drop files from your computer to your iPad. Great for easily transferring pictures and files to your iPad for group presentations.
- Need to share files back and forth with iPad and computer? Set up a DropBox account from your computer. Access the account via the DropBox app on your iPad. This way, you’ll always have a folder on both devices to drop and drag. You’ll get up to 2GB free.
- Why not just use iCloud? – iCloud is limited to use on Lion, iOS 5 iPhones / iPads, and Windows Vista / 7. Windows XP , Leopard, and Snow Leopard are not compatible. It also only backs up Apple’s apps, including: Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. Microsoft Word and Excel are not able to be backed up which could be a deal breaker. Due to its limited IT support compatibility, you should go with DropBox for an easy file sharing computer solution.
