You may have a Mac and PC at home or on a company computer network. You may have also thought that sharing files between them is not possible. I’m here to show you that it’s possible, and easier than you may think.
Here’s how to share files between a PC and Mac:
- Start up both computers and make sure they can access your network, via wireless or network cable.
- On Mac, go to Apple menu->System Preferences->Sharing and click the lock icon to unlock if not unlocked.
- Check the File Sharing box if not checked.
- Under Shared Folders, select folder(s) you want to share.
- In Users section, select the current logged in user and select Read & Write for the rights. Change Everyone to No Access.
- Click Options->Check Share files and folders using SMB (Windows) option. Also, check the logged in user name box and enter password->OK->Done
- Note IP address of your Mac which is listed in the same file sharing box.
- On your PC, click on Start->Search and type in the IP address (i.e. \192.168.0.44)
- Type the username and password of the Mac when prompted.
- You will see all the shared folders that you may access.
Just 10 steps and you don’t have to be a Mac Lion Expert or Windows 7 expert. How’s that for easy Mac PC tech support?
