Sonos Wireless Music Player
There’s no need to worry about buying a big, clunky, expensive stereo system.  Instead, you should be looking at a wireless sound system.  I have reviewed many wireless sound systems, but they all missed the mark mostly due to wireless Internet issues, poor sound quality, and inability to play iTunes or other saved music.  But, I have now found the ideal wireless sound system, Sonos.

Sonos is truly the best wireless sound system out there.  I recommend it to my family, friends, and whoever asks for the best wireless sound system.  Let’s first discuss what is Sonos.  Sonos allows you to play music to its wireless speakers.  You are able to do this by connecting it to a $49 Bridge.  This Bridge connects directly to your wireless router.  It’s function is to then allow the music speaker to be placed anywhere in your home for wireless playback.  There are two wireless music speakers to choose from, $299 for the smaller speaker, Play: 3, that has 3-built in speakers, 1-tweeter, 2-mid-range drivers, and 1-subwoofer bass.  The bigger $399 Play: 5 speaker has 5 built-in speakers that includes a state of the art 2-tweeters, 2-mid-range drivers, and 1 dedicated subwoofer.  You also have the option of connecting your existing stereo system with the $349 Connect.

My recommendation is to just get the $49 Bridge and the $299 Play:3 speaker.  That’s all you really need to get set up with a wireless music experience.  If you have a big room, get the more powerful $399 Play: 5 speaker, and add speakers as necessary.  Here’s the cool part.  You can play just about anything on the Sonos System, from your music library, your stereo, to online free radio music.  Plus, you can control what music you play from your iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Android, Mac or PC.

Also, you can add up to several speakers for each of your rooms and play either the same or different music.  You can play a cooking podcast in your kitchen; hip hop from Pandora in your living room; a jazz song from your iTunes library for your bedroom; and a Disney DVD for your kid’s bedroom.  The point is you control which room plays what, controllable from your computer, iPad, iPhone, or Android.

Don’t worry, the technology setup is easy and you don’t have to be a computer expert or home stereo guru to set it up.  It is very easy and literally takes minutes to set up.  If you’re still worried, Sonos offers free technology support by phone to guide you through the setup.  So, there’s help if you need it.

The big draw is the unlimited amount of music you can play through Sonos.  Here’s a list of the music Sonos Wireless Music Player you can play:

  • 10,000+ pre-loaded free radio stations
  • Pandora, Rhapsody, SiriusXM, Spotify, TuneIn, AUPEO!, Deezer, iHeartRadio, JUKE, Last.fm, MOG, Rdio, Sticher SmartRadio, Wolfgang’s Vault, and downloads from services offering DRM-tracks
  • Any PC, Mac or NAS (network attached storage device) may play music.
  • Any iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, or Android can play music.
  • Playlists supported are: iTunes, Rhapsody, WinAmp, Windows Media Player, and MusicMatch

Don’t take my word for it.  Listen to the reviews.  Out of 450+ reviews, it has received 4.5 out of 5 stars with many touting its easy setup, easy music streaming, and ability to play different music in different rooms.  CNN, Gizmodo, Macworld, TIME, MSN, FamilyCircle, Men’s Journal, Variety, and MTV have all rated Sonos as the best wireless sound system.

The Sonos system is perfect for entertaining, home listening, educational podcasts, dance parties, background noise, and just to simply liven up your home.  It reduces your music clutter by not having to worry about cabling your wireless speakers to your stereo unit.  You can just place the speaker(s) anywhere you want and control them with any computer or device.  Just download the free Sonos controller app or program, and you’ll be able to play any song, station, radio, online player, or other music you’d like.
