As is par for the course, Apple support has upgraded all of its iPod products lines along with the new iPhone release. I’d like to review all of the upgrades from previous product lines so you can decide if you’d like to buy the new versions (generations) of the iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod shuffle lines.
Here are the major new features of the iPod touch 5. Most parallel the iPhone except for the talk capability. Here they are:
- 5 colors: black, white, pink, yellow, and sky blue
- 4-inch screen
- Lighter and thinner
- Siri is included as a first time on iPod touches
- Lightning dock connector
- Processor is twice as fast
- Battery lasts for 40 hours of music or 8 hours of video
- 5 MP iSight camera with flash
- 1080p HD video
Starting at $199, it’s like getting all the same iPhone 5 benefits without paying for the costly calling plan sticker price. The iPod touch is everything the iPhone is apart from the Apple service designers shorting the back design. The design showcases different colors on the back instead of the sleek slate design of the black or white iPhone.
Here are the new iPod Nano 7 features:
- Multi-touch
- 7 colors
- Integrated pedometer
- 30 hours of battery life
- Lighting dock
- Nike+ app
At $149, the iPod nano is the perfect work-out companion, including FM radio and genius mixes. It also has bluetooth so you can work out and run without wires as well as connecting it to your car or wireless speakers very easily. Although it’s the thinnest iPod nano to date, you can play TV shows, movies, podcasts, and videos off of the 2.5-inch multi-touch screen. It’s like having a mini iPhone in your pocket!
iPod shuffle 7 has some new add-ons too:
- 7 colors
- Hear song title, playlist name, and battery status
- Sync multiple playlists and genius mixes
The shuffle is the least changed regarding its specs. The new color change is the most and almost only notable change. What do you expect for only $49?
All of the iPod product lines have been improved upon with the big thumbs up going to the nano for the new multi-touch, video-playing, bluetooth-enabled features. If you need any Apple help setting up these products, feel free to contact New York Computer Help.
