We’ve all been victims, or came close to replying to all by mistake. You know what I mean, you receive silly email from one person, and you want to profess your dislike for the tasteless email to one of your buds. By mistake, you hit reply to all and the other people see your off-colored remark. Other reply-to-all’s have led to more substantial circumstances, such as job firings and relationship breakers.
How can you make sure you don’t inadvertently reply to all? Very easy. Just install TuneReplyAll, an add-on for Outlook 2010. It warns you when replying to all and has you confirm it’s okay.
If you have an older version of Outlook, you can just remove the Reply to All button by pressing the Alt Key and drag Reply to All button off the toolbar. That way, you cannot easily reply to all.
If you use Gmail, you can cancel your email within 30 seconds if you program it to Enable Undo Send. If you use another program besides Outlook or Gmail, check to see if there are any rules or ways to tweak it for delays so you can guard against reply-to-all goofs. You don’t have to be an email expert, you just have to know where to look, and in other times, have the patience to search around for the best email solution.
