So you’re in love with Amazon like I am. Yes, you can get stuff by the next day. On special occasions, you can get your order on the same day! Amazon has recently added tax by I can look past that with their fast shipping and great prices. Plus, the return process is pretty straight-forward.
Okay, enough on Amazon. What if you’re looking for a great e-book reader that can use your Amazon account? I’m here to help you out. Let’s take a look at the top Amazon e-book readers and see what’s beneficial for each one:
- Kindle – The original e-reader of Amazon and now comes in different flavors as you’ll see below. The lowest one goes for $69 and is known as a really crisp e-ink (black and white) screen with Wi-Fi. A solid no-frills e-book reader. No built-in light or touch screen.
- Kindle Paperwhite – At $119, its built-in light is perfect for nighttime reading. It has Wi-Fi, but no ac adapter, just a micro-USB cable for charging. Its big competitor is Barnes & Nobles Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight, but the Kindle is a higher resolution screen at 1,024 x 768-pixel display. Add $60 for 3G Internet service capability. By the way, this model has replaced the Kindle Touch.
- Kindle Fire – At $159, it’s in-color and faster than the above along with a longer battery life.
- Kindle Fire HD (7-inch) – At $199 for 16GB and $249 for 32GB, it’s 1280 x 1200 display, front-facing camera, and fast WiFi competes with the iPad mini for an all-around tablet.
- Kindle Fire HD (8.9-inch) – A higher resolution screen at 1920 x 1200, the 16GB model goes for $299 and the 32GB one lists for $369.
- Kindle Fire HD (8.9-inch 4G LTE wireless) – The top dog of the bunhc at $499 for 32GB, $599 for 64GB. This will work with your AT&T account. This is a good buy if you signed up with AT&T for the shared device plan.
If you like to read in bed or at night, the Paperwhite is your best bet. If you’re an avid reader, you can get by with the $159 Kindle Fire. All the rest of the more expensive Kindles make it more like a tablet versus and e-book reader so that’s all fluff to me. The Amazon e-book reader technology setup is very easy. Just make sure you setup the wireless router properly and you’ll be able to find the signal to download or stream books and content.
