We recently had an iPad 4 customer come in with a broken home button. It was totally unresponsive after he unfortunately dropped it. He wanted it working right away and didn’t have time for us to fix it. The labor time to open up the glass to replace the iPad 4 home button takes about 30 minutes to an hour which is pretty speedy. But, who are we to argue with a customer who comes to our office for an iPad fix, but doesn’t have time for the fix?!
How did we fix the iPad home button in 20 seconds?
- We went to Settings->General->Accessibility->AssistiveTouch->On
- A “soft” AssistiveTouch home button then appeared on the screen which may be dragged to your preferred location.
- We pointed the customer to this soft home button to use and he was very happy.
So, if you have no time, or need this as a quick fix until you have New York Computer Help fix your iPad home button, this will do the trick.
