This app description stopped me right in my tracks. I couldn’t believe what the description read. Detect if you have skin cancer with this app. That is insane!
This app is called SpotCheck and here’s how it works.
- Download the app, SpotCheck, to your supported iPhone.
- Take a picture of your mole which goes for $5 for each one.
- Then, submit your mole to a board certified dermatologist.
- Get your results.
- You will pointed to local dermatologists if an in-office visit is required.
On a medical level, I’m sure there are many things wrong at so many levels with not checking out a patient in person. Totally on a different level, but similar in that every computer issue cannot be determined by a PC error code or MacBook beep issue. However, all many moles need is a good picture and then a benign or not benign result may be made. I argue that a bad pic, or one with a shadow to it, may bring back an incorrect observation from a doctor. Obviously, use this app at your own risk, but it does seem pretty convenient and cheap rather than forking up the big bucks and time for a in-office biopsy.
