For some, the Mac start-up chime is sound of joy. The sound For others, it’s a nuisance and can wake up the whole family if working during the middle of the night.
If you fall in the latter camp, I will show you how to silence your Mac’s start-up chime.
- Easiest way is to hit the F10 key prior to shut down. It will mute your computer when you boot it back up.
- For MacBook support and MacBook Pro support, you can install a free app called StartNinja which will let you decided when to turn on or off the chime. iMac support is not included for this app.
That’s it. You can get hairy with command line programming, but you really don’t have to go that far.
