Storage almost full! Oh No! That’s what your iPhone is telling you. But, you have plenty of space on iCloud? How can this be?!
It’s a popular iPhone issue and one that can be easily solved. When you get the “Storage almost full” error, that means you are running out of space on your iPhone. It has nothing to do with your iCloud which is your backup on the Apple server. To take a step back, your iPhone backs up to iCloud. If you have a 128GB iPhone and your iCloud is 200GB, you can conceivably be maxed out on your iPhone at 128GB, get the storage is full alert, and stil have about 70GB left on iCloud. So, it is common to be out of space on your iPhone and still have iCloud left-over space.
You will need to physically delete or move your stuff off your iPhone in order to make space. Best and safest way is to transfer your photos, which take the most space, off to your Mac. Then, from there, you can leave it on your Mac or move it to another cloud account.
How can you transfer photos from your iPhone to your Mac?
- Connect your iPhone to your Mac with your USB cable.
- iPhoto should open automatically. If not, open the app.
- Select the pictures you want to import and select, “Import All.”
- Now you can delete the iPhone photos when prompted.
