My holiday gift: an Apple Watch 2 – What are my thoughts?

So, I was surprised with an Apple Watch 2 for my Hanukkah gift this year.  Definitely unexpected and wasn’t sure what to think of it.  After all, I was one of the first to buy the first generation Apple Watch and I promptly returned it to the Apple service store the next morning.  And by the way, the Genius Bar guy helping me said he returned his also right away.

Alright, so I have a negative connotation when hearing the words, “Apple Watch.”  Heck, we even stopped repairing the Apple Watch since I was so disappointed with the product.

But, I’ve given it another shot.  Well, so far, I’m liking what I’m seeing.  It’s waterproof, not just water resistant, which means you can actually take a dip in the pool or ocean with it.  I’ll throw out a bunch of other pluses as to why it’s much better than gen 1.  The screen is much brighter, it has a 50% faster processor and 2x graphic performance.

Best of all, it allows me to keep my iPhone in my pocket.  That means I can throw away my tense worries about missing emails, texts, and app updates.  The phone will let me know if it’s important enough to pull my phone out.

Overall, the Apple Watch 3rd gen is a great gift or product to use on your own.  Good stuff and I’m happy with it.  Well, at least I’ll test it for 2 weeks this time to decide if it’s a keeper or not.
