For some reason, laptops, including many MacBooks, are very thirsty creatures. I can’t tell you how many customers come in to our shop with liquid-bogged laptops. Most have sheepish grins, quietly reporting that somehow, someway some liquid may have gotten into their laptops. Others own it and say I am responsible for serious beer damage.
Whatever your temperament is, you may be able to save your sad laptop from your accidental spillage. There are a few steps you can take to stop the damage and maybe miraculously save your laptop in the process.
Here’s what to do if you accidentally spilled liquid on your laptop:
- Immediately turn off your laptop. This prevents any shorts, specifically protecting your motherboard from liquid going on the hot board.
- Turn your laptop over. Yup, go belly up. This will ensure the liquid goes away from the motherboard and worst case, your laptop keyboard will trap the liquid so it doesn’t affect other parts.
- Let is sit, powered off, for 24 hours. Give it time to heal and dry.
- Turn it on after 24 hours. Cross your fingers. Pray. See if it powers on. See if the keyboard is okay.
- Laptop issues? Bring it to New York Computer Help as we have a revolutionary way to fix laptops that had spillage.
