Physical clean out of PC desktop – PC cleaning NYC service

Dirty desktop computerWe’ve all heard of a PC tune-up, but what about an old fashioned PC desktop clean-up?  Just as it sounds, this is about rolling up your sleeves and getting rid of those nasty dust bunnies.

Who cares?  Well, with enough dust and lack of PC love, your computer could actually short out.  Really?  Yes, really!  We’ve seen tons of motherboards short out and fail because dust builds up enough, melts with the heat, and acts like pouring boiling water over your computer.  Have a banged you over the head yet with why you should clean out your computer?

Alright, so how can you perform a physical clean out of your PC desktop?  I thought you’d never ask.

Here are the steps to take care of physically cleaning out your PC desktop:

1. Turn off your computer.

2. Open up the case.

It usually requires unscrewing a couple of screws.  You’ll need a phillips screwdriver.

3. Suck up the dust!

If you have a mini-vacuum, this will do.  If you don’t, you can buy a dust blower can at Staples.  This may not seem like a big deal, this task, but keep in mind you don’t want to suck or blow to close to the components or you’ll break them.  Also, if you have a blower, blow it outside your computer first to ensure it doesn’t leak while blowing.

4.  If you’re not comfortable with this, seek out a PC desktop clean-out specialist or local PC repair expert to help you out.
