On a daily basis, we get sad-faced MacBook users walking in with a sheepish grin of discontent. A recent MacBook spill has brought us into our MacBook repair NYC shop. We are usually their first or second visit. If the second visit, the first visit would have been at the Apple store. And since it’s a liquid spill, Apple is notorious for unclaiming responsibility and claiming right away it is a logic board issue.
9 times out of 10, the liquid spill hasn’t caused the logic board to fail. Okay, maybe 7 times out of 10. 5 times out of 10, the top case requires replacement. This is because when the water, wine, beer, soup, tea, or another liquid spills on the MacBook, the laptop encapsulates the liquid within and on the keyboard. It traps it. The liquid will only go through the keyboard to the logic board if there’s a lot of liquid or if the liquid or if the liquid is spilled at an angle to go through the USB ports, DVD drive, or other openings to the logic board.
What else could it be? Well, it could just be a battery. We’ve seen this before. The battery failing could cause the MacBook not to power up. That’s another one. Check the battery. It’s simple enough and affordable enough too.
Anything else it could be? You can always check the RAM. Bad RAM could also cause a MacBook powering issue.
The point here is, don’t give up on your MacBook and say the logic board repair service will be too much. Most of the time, it is not the logic board and will be a much more cost effective fix. Our Apple technicians always look for the direct source of the issue to ensure an affordable MacBook spill repair fix. We feel that when we determine it’s actually a logic board issue, we are almost throwing in the towel. But, if we say it’s a logic board issue, it most certainly is since we always troubleshoot and test all other parts first. If it is a logic board issue, don’t worry, our costs are still half the cost of the Apple store as well as very competitive with other Apple repair shops in NYC.
If you need help with your MacBook issue repair, feel free to contact us or drop in for a free diagnostic to determine the exact issue and cost.
