Deep Cleaning Your Desktop, Custom PC and Laptop

Keeping your desktop, custom PC and laptop clean is essential for proper maintenance, to perform optimally and last longer. One of the most important maintenance tasks that you should do regularly is deep cleaning. Deep cleaning is a process of taking apart the hardware components of your computer, cleaning them and reassembling them. It can help you improve the performance of your computer and also extend its life.

Deep cleaning involves removing dust from all the components including fans, heatsinks, RAM slots, power supply unit, motherboard etc. It also includes cleaning the interior of the case with compressed air to remove any dust buildup. This will help keep your computer running smoothly and efficiently for longer periods of time and prevent any hardware issues from occurring in the future. With deep cleaning, you can make sure that all parts are cleaned properly so that there are no issues with heat dissipation or other problems caused by dust buildup in the system components.

Simplest Ways to Clean Your Computer

Whether you have a desktop, custom PC, or laptop, the best way to clear the dust out is with compressed air. Use the air to remove any dust or dirt from the inside and outside of the case. Be sure to get into all the nooks and crannies. You can also use a vacuum cleaner if needed, but as a warning, too much dust build-up can cause static electricity to form and short out some parts as the dust is being pulled out.

Once the PC is clean, you can start to disinfect it. There are a few different ways to do this:

  • You can use a 70-90% isopropyl alcohol solution, but don’t use it directly on your device. Instead, spray or drip a small amount onto a microfiber cloth and use that to wipe down the surfaces. You can use a disinfectant spray that is safe for electronics. Whether you’re spraying the solution on a cloth or using disinfecting wipes, you should note that it is important that you get rid of the excess liquid. Keep the cloth damp, but not dripping wet. When wiping down a keyboard especially on a laptop, the excess solution can easily find its way beneath the keys and onto the precious parts underneath it.
  • -You can use a diluted bleach solution (1 part bleach to 9 parts water) as you would the alcohol solution
  • -Or you can use an alcohol or disinfecting wipe, but just make you wring out the excess solution

Let the disinfectant dry completely before using your computer again. You can use this method on a mouse or monitor as well.

If you don’t trust yourself enough to do the cleaning, you can always take it to a repair center and get it done relatively cheap and professionally.
