I’m Getting a Battery Error Message!
MacBook batteries can easily get swollen from heavy use. We can replace your battery quickly no matter the model. If you’re getting the message on your screen that says your battery needs servicing, it might be time to get a new one.
How Do I Find the Right Battery?
The battery needed is based on the model of your Macbook. The model can be found on the bottom cover of the laptop where you can find the model number in really small lettering that you can find in the center/top of the cover. The correct model needed starts with the letter “A” followed by four digits. Most batteries with Apple are paired with another model because of their design. You might notice in the following list that there may be duplicates or 4-5 models that share the battery. This is just a general list of batteries that share their models, but the reality is that some of these models were so popular (or had flaws) that they had to be redesigned to be released “early, mid, or late” throughout the year, so there might be a need to do a little more research to find the exact battery will need for the Macbook.
Here’s a list of those models:
Beginner’s Guide to Diagnosing the Battery
Now to check if the battery really needs to be replaced, you will need to actually see it to check for signs of swelling and and corrosion. Most Macbooks use special screws and you will need a specific screwdriver to actually open the back cover to get to the battery. In most cases, wherever you source your battery, it will usually come with a pair of these tools. Before buying a replacement, you check to see if your charging adapter is bad with another working adapter, and check to see if you’re charging port itself doesn’t look dirty or damaged. When it’s time to change your battery, the best course is to find a video tutorial of your exact model because there are so many models and they’re all replaced differently.
Before attempting this change yourself, make sure to check with Apple to see if your laptop is still under warranty since they can do it for you. The older models you will need a repair shop if you don’t want do risk trying it yourself. If you are not sure of which battery you will need the repair shops will usually figure it out for you.
