Another iPad competitor: Lenovo’s LePad Tablet – tablet tech support

The iPad is flying right now. It’s market share in the tablet industry is sky-high right now with nobody in reach. Lenovo hopes to change that with its Android operated LePad Tablet.  Don’t be confused with the name.  It’s not French, it’s just an abbreviation of Lenovo and pad, combined to spell LePad.

Here are the LePad’s specs:

  • Android 2.1 Eclair operating system
  • 1GHZ processor
  • Bluetooth
  • Wi-Fi
  • 800 x 480 screen
  • Camera with flash

Lenovo’s tablet is expected to be cheaper than the iPad. The very cool factor here is that  this tablet may be joined up with a keyboard + laptop docking base, in turn, called the Ideapad U1.  When joined up, the tablet becomes a fully functional laptop.  This is definitely a cool product since you can surf the Internet and email with the tablet, and then be able to perform heavy-duty word documents, printing, and other office computer support tasks on the laptop.

Obviously, the price point and ease of computer setup here will dictate if the LePad can compete with the iPad.  If these factors are favorable, the iPad will have a run for its money.  It is expected to be available in the last quarter of 2011, but more likely Q1 of 2012.
