Best word processor for the iPad: Pages – iPad computer support

%image_alt%%image_alt%We’ve gotten past the novelty of the iPad.  It downloads apps and surfs the Internet at a rapid speed.  But, can you do work on it?  Specifically, can you type a word document on it?  I’ve reviewed numerous word processors, or mostly pseudo-word processors for the iPad, and have come up with the best word processor for the iPad for your use.

Apple’s Pages is the clear winner here.  It has formatting and a true layout like a typical Microsoft Word or word processor format.  And the application setup and overall technical support aspect is straightforward.  Spell check, fonts, colors, and line spacing are one of the several key functions it offers.  For $10, you can also wirelessly print  using AirPrint, a new feature for Pages.

For PC computer users, you can easily convert your Pages file to a Word Document by:

  • Open Pages File
  • File->Export->Word

Yes, Pages is not a full-fledged word processor, but do you really want a robust, button-frenzy to choose from on a small touchscreen?  I don’t think so.  Pages gives you exactly what you need:  a no-frills word processor on the go.
