Best way to get rid of your used tech electronics
September is here. I don’t know about you, but that acts like a new part of the year for me. Kids are going back to school. The season is turning. It’s time for a change or to start a new leaf. Whatever signals a new year, you may have already bought and set up a new laptop, computer, or gadget. That brings up the next question. “
What’s the best way to get rid of your used electronics?
After you’ve recovered your files from your old tech stuff, you should see how to either get cash for it or recycle it gracefully.
These are good options if you current have an account and are used to selling old or new stuff on these sites.
Not comfortable selling off these sites? No worries.
Here are some name-brand sites you can try to get trade-ins for:
- Amazon Trade-In – Send in your items and get a gift card a few days later. Amazon is typically the most reasonable with valuating you tech.
- Apple Trade-In – It’s done instantly in store and 2-3 weeks when done online. Good deal although Apple does low-ball you.
- Best buy Trade-In Program – Ship it and get a gift card in 10 days. This is my least favorite. Why? I’m not a fan of buying overpriced stuff at Best Buy!
At our computer repair shop, we provide valuations on certain MacBooks and also recycle for free for older tech stuff. So, that’s another option if you just want to get rid of your stuff in an environmentally friendly way.
Overall, I’d recommend going on eBay if you don’t mind spending the time. You’ll be able to have more control of the minimum you’re looking for. If you’re in the market for a new Mac or Apple product, that’s a good time to go to the Apple store with your old tech stuff to at least minimize the heavy sticker shock.
