Best way to clean your phone during COVID-19

covid-19 cleaning your phone

It sounds simple enough. Clean your hands for 20 seconds. But, what about what you’re touching all day long? I’m talking about your iPhone, Samsung, or another smartphone. This is what you’re touching all the time.

Here’s the deal. You may wash your hands. Then, you touch your phone. All good, right? Wrong! If you didn’t clean your phone first, well, it’s like you just infected your hands. So, what the government and state are forgetting to tell you is you should clean your phone first and then your hands.

If you’re like me, you’re touching your phone non-stop. So, be sure and take preventative action here. The same goes for your laptop or desktop keyboard. Wash them before your wash your hands.

Here’s the right way to disinfect your phone:

  1. Pour a tiny drop of liquid soap, purell or rubbing alcohol on your hand. Transfer to the front glass of your phone.
  2. Take a lint-free cloth or towel and pour a drop of water on it.
  3. Rub your cloth or towel on the front of your phone for 20 seconds.
  4. Then, pour a drop of water on a new cloth and wipe away any soapy residue from your phone. Continue wiping the rest of your phone, front and back.

What not to do:

  • Don’t dump water directly on your phone.
  • Stay away from open ports, i.e. charging port.
  • Keep the rubbing motion light when cleaning to avoid breaking your glass.
  • Don’t use glass plus or other household cleaners. They may oxidize the screen.

The same steps can be taken for your computers and other electronics. If you don’t have time to use a cleaning solvent, you can use water instead. The point here is to wipe away and possible contaminants that are on the surface level of your phone. These bad particles may have COVID-19 within it since it is known to remain on surfaces for hours.

Stay safe. Stay sane. And practice good hygiene for yourself and your phone.
