How to create the best password for your computer that you’ll actually remember?

Best computer passwordMay 5th marks the World Password Day.  Yes, I’m not joking.  There has been a day implemented by I have no clue who.  The point is the raise awareness that hackers and cyber-thieves are on the rise and you really need to be on the look-out.

Passwords you should change:

123456 and password.  Yup, those are the most common passwords used and certainly will be the first to try by your uninvited neighbor.  Blank and your birthdate are really not that smart either.  Chances are your birthday is on Facebook or another social site and guess what.  2 + 2 = 4.  Catch my drift?

Not sure if your password is good enough.  Take the Password IQ Test.

In a nutshell, you are probably leary to create an ultra-secure password.  After all, you have to remember it yourself.  So, here are a few  steps to take to create the best password that you’ll actually remember:

  1. Use 12 characters at a minimum.
  2. Include a capital letter, number, and lower case letter.
  3. Using a password manager, such as Dashlane, is the ultimate in password security.  It creates all the passwords for you and you just need to remember one password for the password manager.

And don’t be nervous about forgetting your password.  Computer log-in passwords that you forget can be reset by a computer service professional and all your online email and social media accounts always have a secret question and answer you can follow to reset your account.
