6 Dirty secrets of the IT industry – New York Computer Help shares IT industry secrets

Computer IT secretsThe IT world is vast.  Knowledge is deep and skill sets are endless.  IT techs don’t know everything and the regular consumer knows less.  Surely, there is knowledge that IT technicians don’t share, right?  Absolutely!  Your truly, Joe Silverman, was asked to weigh in on any dirty secrets of the IT industry.

First and foremost, I got into the IT support industry to act as a liaison or supporter of the tech consumer.  Before starting New York Computer Help, I saw too many customers being taken advantage of, i.e. Geek Squad upselling products for no reason, Apple store taking too long to service Macs.  So, I definitely DO NOT have any direct secrets from my end or company end, sorry to kill the suspense here.  But, I am fighting for you, the consumer, and have done so in my piece to the author, Dan Tynan, in the InfoWorld article, 6 Dirty Secrets of the IT Industry.

On page 4, I discuss how you shouldn’t leave your company tech support to John in Accounting, or Rick in Shipping.  Yes, little issues like powering on the monitor or replacing the mouse is a low-level computer service job, but computer viruses and more advanced networking issues should be left to the big boys like New York Computer Help.
