Backing up Windows 8, or any Windows computer for that matter, is critical.  You’ll want to ask yourself, “If my computer crashes tomorrow, are my files safe?”  If that answer is no, thenNYC windows 8 backup setup get on it and do something about it. 

With Windows 8, you can use the operating system software itself to back up your files.  Think Time Machine for the Mac, but on Windows.  That’s what every Windows software practically has, but Windows 8 is the most sophisticated backup system to date.  Windows 8 has a “File History” program which is very similar to Apple support’s Time Machine.  Like Time Machine, you’ll need to hook up an external hard drive or network drive so you can save files to it periodically.  If your PC crashes, you’ll be able to restore your files.

  1. Connect an external hard drive to your PC
  2. Go to Control Panel by clicking Windows key and type “File History” at the Start screen.
  3. Select Settings->File History
  4. Click Turn share history on and away you go to set up your file backup

You should really use the Windows 8 backup, or another one, to guard against data recovery.
